• IBC Bank has initiated Operation Care Drop which launched on Veteran’s Day. Through this community-wide effort, 55 local IBC Bank branches and branches throughout Oklahoma and Texas will serve as Drop Zones for care package supplies through Nov. 30. A “shopping list” of suggested donation items (gum, travel-size toiletries, playing cards, etc.) is conveniently available at branches. Writing a letter of support and thanks to our troops, with words of kindness and encouragement, go a long way to boost morale and spread the spirit of patriotism.
• Bethany Library, 3510 N. Mueller, will have 1-2-3 Play with Me for children 10 months to 3 1/2 years of age with parents or guardians. This class will run from 10 to 11 a.m. Playing with your baby or child is not only important for bonding but is also an educational experience for your child. Pre-register for this class at the library’s Reference Desk.

• Shakespeare suggested that music is the food of love, so why not combine music, food and a love of both things? The Downtown Library, 300 Park Avenue, has a great set of performances in store for the popular Thursday Noon Tunes series of lunchtime concerts. Pack your own lunch, or buy a sandwich and some soup at the library’s 1st Edition Café and relax in the atrium for six free concerts in November and December. • The American Legion Post 12 Auxiliary members will be hosting their monthly fundraiser breakfast between 8 and 9:30 a. m. For only $4 you can get either a pancake or egg breakfast with all the trimmings; coffee and orange juice are included in that price. All proceeds support the children and youth and Veteran programs.
• Bethany Library, 3510 N. Mueller, will have Children Reading to Dogs for ages 5 and up, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Loveable dogs and their trained owners will help children develop reading skills. So grab your favorite picture book and enjoy a time of reading. Dogs and owners are trained and certified as dog therapy teams by Therapy Dogs International. • The popular month-long Downtown in December kicks off 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 28 with a tree lighting ceremony in Bricktown followed by a Christmas parade on the Oklahoma River. • Staying warm during an Oklahoma winter isn’t all that easy. That’s why 4-H’ers from Oklahoma County area clubs are collecting H.U.G.S. for kids who need them. H.U.G.S. are new hats, underwear, gloves and socks that will be collected by 4-H clubs and later donated to groups and organizations that can get them to local children in need. Site locations for donating H.U.G.S. include the elected officials’ offices at the Oklahoma County Courthouse, the county election board and the OSU Extension Center, 930 N. Portland. • Living Life with Cancer — Because living life fully is important, Integris Oncology Services is hosting a new monthly support group for cancer patients and caregivers. The new program is designed for all persons affected by cancer and is open to anyone diagnosed with any form of cancer, caregivers and support persons, regardless of where treatment is being provided. The meetings will be held monthly on the third Thursday, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., in the Troy & Dollie Smith Cancer Center Resource Library at Integris Baptist Medical Center.
